Inspired by the Pomodoro Technique — the proven time management method developed by Francesco Cirillo — TimerBox brings that same science-backed focus system to a clean, modern, and completely free web app.

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

The Pomodoro Technique is a time management method created by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. As a university student struggling to concentrate, Cirillo challenged himself to focus for just 10 minutes using a small tomato-shaped kitchen timer on his desk. From that simple experiment, a global productivity method was born.

The technique works by dividing your work into timed focus intervals — traditionally 25 minutes of concentrated effort — followed by a short 5-minute break. After completing four intervals, you earn a longer break of 15 to 30 minutes. Each 25-minute block is called a pomodoro, from the Italian word for "tomato" — a nod to the tomato-shaped kitchen timer that started it all.

Today, the Pomodoro method is one of the most widely-used time management frameworks in the world, adopted by students, developers, writers, designers, and remote workers to beat procrastination, reduce mental fatigue, and get more done without burning out. — Wikipedia

How does the Pomodoro Timer work?

1.

Write down every task you need to finish today

2.

Assign estimated pomodoros to each task (1 pomodoro = 25 minutes of focused work)

3.

Choose a task and start the 25-minute focus timer

4.

Work on that one task only — no switching, no distractions — until the alarm rings

5.

Take a 5-minute break when the timer ends — step away, breathe, reset

6.

Repeat the cycle 3 to 5 times until your tasks are done

7.

After every 4 pomodoros, take a longer 15-minute break to fully recharge
