Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about using TimerBox, audio settings, keyboard shortcuts, and accuracy.
Do TimerBox timers keep running if I switch browser tabs or minimize the window?
Yes. Unlike naive JavaScript timers that lose time when modern browsers throttle inactive tabs, TimerBox computes elapsed and remaining time using absolute wall-clock timestamp deltas (Date.now() and performance.now()). Your countdown remains 100% synchronized.
Why didn't I hear the audio notification sound?
Modern browsers enforce strict autoplay policies that require user interaction before playing audio. Make sure you click anywhere on the page (or click Start) before the timer finishes. Also verify that your device volume is turned up and that the sound toggle icon is enabled.
What keyboard shortcuts are available?
On most timers and stopwatches: Press Space to Start or Pause, R to Reset, F to toggle Fullscreen mode, and L to record a lap on the stopwatch.
Does TimerBox store any of my personal data or require an account?
No. TimerBox requires no sign-up or registration. All calculations, presets, and timers run locally on your device in your web browser.
Can I use TimerBox on mobile phones and tablets?
Yes. TimerBox is fully responsive and optimized for touch devices on iOS, iPadOS, Android, and Chromebooks. You can also install it to your home screen as a Progressive Web App (PWA).
How does the visual shrinking disc work?
The visual timer represents time as a colored disc that gradually shrinks clockwise as minutes tick down. This eliminates the need to do mental math with digits, which is especially beneficial for children and individuals with ADHD.
What is the Pomodoro Technique?
The Pomodoro Technique is a time-management method developed by Francesco Cirillo. It uses focused 25-minute work intervals separated by short 5-minute breaks, with a longer 15–30 minute break after four completed cycles.
Are the time calculators accurate for official payroll or billing?
Yes. Our time duration, decimal conversion, and overtime calculators use standard industrial mathematical formulas rounded to standard business precision.
