1 Minute Sand Timer: A 60-Second Virtual Hourglass

60 Seconds of Falling Sand•Game Turns & Speed Rounds•Chime at the Last Grain•Fullscreen Ready

Sixty Seconds You Can Actually See

A one-minute hourglass is the classic party-game prop: short enough to keep everyone on their toes, long enough to get something done. This online version pours a full minute of sand from the top bulb to the bottom, so players can glance over and instantly judge how much of the turn is left.

Use it for charades and word-guessing turns, one-minute speeches, "minute to win it" challenges, plank holds, or the 60-second warm-up at the start of a lesson. Because it runs on the device clock, every flip lasts exactly sixty seconds.

How to Use the 1 Minute Sand Timer

1

The hourglass is already loaded with 1 minute of sand — or pick another preset or type your own time in m:ss.

2

Press Start (or the Spacebar) and the grains begin pouring through the narrow neck.

3

Watch the top bulb empty and the pile in the bottom bulb grow — no clock-reading needed.

4

A chime plays when the last grain lands. Press Reset (R) to flip the glass and go again.

Frequently Asked Questions

What games use a 1 minute sand timer?

Charades, Taboo-style word games, Pictionary-style drawing rounds, quick-fire trivia and "minute to win it" party challenges all work well with a one-minute glass.

Can I set the hourglass to seconds instead of minutes?

Yes. Type a value like 0:45 or 1:30 in the custom box and the sand will pour for exactly that long.

Is the virtual hourglass more accurate than a real one?

Yes. Physical sand glasses drift with humidity and grain size. The TimerBox hourglass is driven by the system clock, so it finishes on the exact second even if you switch tabs.

Which keyboard shortcuts work on the sand timer?

Space starts or pauses, R resets, F opens fullscreen and M mutes or unmutes the finishing chime.
