Hard Boiled Egg Timer: Creamy Yellow & Easy to Peel

10-Minute Precision Boil•Creamy Yellow Centers•Zero Green/Gray Sulfur Rings•Deviled Eggs & Meal Prep

Say Goodbye to Chalky, Overcooked Gray Yolks

That unsightly greenish-gray sulfur ring around hard-boiled yolks happens when eggs are boiled too long, causing iron in the yolk to react with hydrogen sulfide in the white.

Cooking large eggs for exactly 10 to 11 minutes in boiling water produces a completely solid yet velvety yellow center that tastes sweet, rich, and never dry or rubbery.

How to Use the Hard Boiled Egg Timer

1

Lower cold eggs into boiling water and immediately set the timer for 10 minutes.

2

Keep water at a gentle bubbling simmer to prevent shell breakage.

3

Prepare an ice bath with plenty of ice cubes while the timer counts down.

4

Shock eggs immediately in ice water for 10 minutes for effortless shell peeling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do hard boiled egg shells stick?

Lowering cold eggs into hot boiling water (thermal shock) causes the egg white to shrink slightly away from the inner shell membrane, making peeling dramatically easier than starting in cold water.
