10 Minute Rainbow Timer for Centres and Activities

Ten-Minute Rainbow•Centre Rotations•Smartboard Friendly•Cheerful End Chime

A Bright Ten-Minute Countdown

Ten minutes is a common length for learning-centre rotations, snack breaks and short independent tasks. As the colourful bands fade one at a time, students can judge for themselves how much time is left — no more "how long until we switch?"

Display it on the whiteboard so every group can see it, or keep it on a tablet at a reading corner. At home, use it as a friendly start-up timer for homework or practice.

How to Use the 10 Minute Rainbow Timer

1

The rainbow is set to 10 minutes. Tap a different preset or enter your own time to change it.

2

3

Point to the remaining colours so children can see exactly how much time is left.

4

When the last colour disappears a cheerful chime plays. Press Reset to bring the rainbow back.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do teachers use a 10 minute rainbow timer?

Typical uses include centre rotations, snack time, quiet reading, partner work and short assessments. Its colours are easy to read from the back of the room.

Can children understand the rainbow without numbers?

Yes. That is the point — kids track how many colours remain. The digital time is shown too for adults who want it.

Why do rainbow timers work so well for young children?

Kids who cannot read a clock yet can still understand "when the colours are gone, we are done". Shrinking colour bands turn abstract minutes into something they can see and talk about.

Can I use the rainbow timer on an interactive whiteboard?

Yes. It runs in any modern browser and has a one-click fullscreen mode, so it scales cleanly on smartboards, projectors and tablets.
